Security and trust are indispensable; signing documents electronically must be as secure as signing them in person. Companies and professionals need to be certain about who is actually signing their documents.
With this in mind, ZapSign created Identity Validation — an extra layer of protection that adds even more security and reliability to every signature.

Why is identity validation important?
When it comes to electronic signatures, especially in regulated industries, verifying the signer's identity is essential to prevent fraud and comply with strict security standards. ZapSign offers a complete solution to ensure that signatures are truly made by the correct person, adhering to the highest compliance standards.
How does identity validation work?
During the signing process, we ask the signer to complete two important steps to validate their identity:
- Photo of an Identity Document: The signer must take a picture of an official document (e.g., ID, driver’s license, or residency card).
- Video Recording: A short video of the signer’s face to confirm their presence and match it to the document provided.
With these two steps, we perform analyses of:
- Liveness and Authenticity: Ensuring the person is present at the time of signing.
- Facial Matching: Verifying that the signer’s face matches the one on the provided document.
- Document Authenticity: Checking that the document is genuine and has not been altered.
Ensuring the security of your documents!
To guarantee maximum security, our technology evaluates multiple factors to further strengthen the protection of your documents. This includes:
- Real and Present Person: Capturing a photo during the signing process and recording the entire session.
- Original Physical Document: Blocking photos of other devices, photocopies, or screenshots.
- Document Consistency: Analyzing names, seals, security codes, and other specific details.
- Document Integrity: Detecting any signs of manipulation, such as photo overlays or altered data.
Soon, with enhanced OCR technology, we will cross-check the document's information with the CPF database at the Federal Revenue Office, providing even more security!
Comprehensive signature reports
At the end of the signing process, all this data is organized into a Signature Report. This report displays the authenticity level of the signature and includes the signer’s photos and video. Additionally, we automatically extract key information from the document (name, ID number, date of birth) to ensure everything is more transparent and trustworthy.
What happens if validation fails?
If the validation process encounters any inconsistencies, the signer has up to three attempts to redo the validation. If all attempts fail, the failure will be reported. This setting is manageable at the company level, allowing for greater business flexibility.
